The Grand Canyon was not punished by windstorms over hundreds of years. In fact, it was created by them. Our loss may feel like a punishment, but we are not the product of a God who punishes us with a loved one’s death. We are a creation with the unbelievable power to weather life’s toughest storms. If someone had tried to shield the Grand Canyon from windstorms, we would never have seen the beauty of its carvings.
